The JOSHUA Foundation Intends to Start Farm to Feed Hungry in Uganda

WASHINGTON, DC - The JOSHUA Foundation today announced its intent to acquire land in Uganda, East Africa to start a farm to help feed hungry children, women, and men in Uganda.

After a visit to Uganda in March, Executive Director, Edward Walden Jr., was saddened by the hunger and living conditions of the people in the villages. He found that many of the villagers only receive two to four meals a week.

"These people are very poor and are unable to obtain the proper nutrition that's needed to sustain life. With a farm, they will have access to a steady harvest of a variety of crops. With God's grace, The JOSHUA Foundation plans to start "The JOSHUA Farm" in the village of Kamuzinda to help feed the hungry people of Uganda. These people need all the assistance they can get -- food and health care, just to name a few. Of course others need help as well, but just witnessing their ordeal has moved me to want to do more for our brothers and sisters in Uganda. We may not be able to save the world, but we can be a blessing to some," said Walden.

The farm will be divided into 12 sections, each representing one of the 12 tribes of Israel in the Bible. Bananas, potatoes, beans, peas, and sugar cane are some of the crops that are planned to be grown on the farm. Chickens will also be raised for their eggs and meat. Harvest from the farm is expected to feed orphans and poor families in Kamuzinda and 15 neighboring villages.

Founded in 2001, by Executive Director, Edward Walden Jr., The JOSHUA Foundation is a global 501(c)(3) non-profit Christian organization serving poor and disadvantaged people. Its mission is to assist in the elimination of health and education disparities domestically and abroad.
