WASHINGTON, DC - The JOSHUA Foundation today announced plans for a new project in Uganda, East Africa - Empowerment Care Villages.

The formation of Empowerment Care Villages in Uganda is a new vision of The JOSHUA Foundation. The essence of Empowerment Care Villages is to enable widowed parents who are living with HIV disease, their children and orphans to live in a safe and nurturing environment that will provide social services, health care, education, and job training.

"With God's grace and the support of grants and individual donations, we are confident that the vision of Empowerment Care Villages will soon be realized," said Edward Walden Jr., Executive Director of The JOSHUA Foundation.

The Empowerment Care Villages will encompass farms, from which the Villages will reap. The farms will be a major life source for residents of the Villages. Hired laborers will plant, maintain and harvest the crops. The residents will also volunteer in these efforts to gain useful experience. Some of the crops will be sold in local markets and the monies received will help to sustain the residents of the Villages. The ultimate goals of the Empowerment Care Villages are to empower the residents to be strong and effective citizens of their environment and to improve their health and social and educational well-beings.

Founded in 2001, by Executive Director, Edward Walden Jr., The JOSHUA Foundation is a global 501(c)(3) non-profit Christian organization serving poor and disadvantaged people of various nationalities. Its mission is to assist in the elimination of health and education disparities among specific populations domestically and abroad.
